Excellent fish fry, good old fashioned's. The main lodge is impressive (a fireplace big enough to stand in!)
Very nice place to stay and/or have dinner. It's a Northwoods gem. Lots of real wood.
So disappointed. One of our Christmas traditions is to visit Gateway Lodge. We have stayed there many times before we bought our cabin. We now come in every Christmas to have a refreshment and see the Christmas tree and sit next to the warm fire.. We did that last Saturday night. The tree was beautiful. There was no fire in the huge fireplace. We asked and the gal behind the desk said "no way, fire Marshall says no way." Does it depend on who's working whether there is a fire? The ambiance of the beautiful tree and warm fire are spectacular. We were disappointed as well as many other guests.
Outstanding experience! Insanely rustic and amazingly clean. The staff were top notch and were always there to help or give you historical background. Cannot say enough about how great this place is!
This is a rustic lodge, not a traditional hotel. Its ambiance is striking the moment you walk in, and continues throughout. Though older, the rooms are immaculate and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The Gateway offers trap shooting, golf and ATV trails, and the staff is happy to put you in touch with guides for fishing and other sport. I could not have enjoyed this experience more.
